Water Divining…SNAKE IN THE WELL

WATER DIVINING:  WHY?

(FOUND SNAKE IN THE OLD  WELL)

To find  underground water is about as easy as water sluicing off a Duck’s back.  So  here are a few tips for anyone interested.  My wife says very few people  are interested  in these stories but I will persist anyway.
Here is  a picture  of our son Andrew, doing water divining.  Not sure  if he is a believer.  That silly grin seems  to indicate scepticism.

1) Get a two pieces of fence wire two or three feet long…heavier gauge wire than a coat hanger.  (but try  coat hangers if you wish)
2) Bend  1/3 of the wires into  90 degree angles
3) Hold the wires parallel to each other about chest high as
illustrated by Andrew above.
4)  Walk around and search  for water…keep an eye on the wires
5) Hold them loosely so that they can swivel but tight enough  to keep them parallel
6) When the wires  cross  you have found water.
7) Do it again a couple  of times just to confirm the wires moved without you actually moving them…or the wind  moving them.
8) Start digging…or hire a well driller and  show him the spot.
We did it for our new well. First, I had Gordon Metcalfe do the divining as he was  a  believer and  I was a bit sceptical.  But we needed  a new clean well as the old hand  dug well had crawling things living in it.  Even a  big snake which I rescued.  “Hey, down there, I am lowering this basket by a rope…crawl in and  I;ll get out of the well…hear  me?”  And the snake did just that then squirmed  away down toward  the  pond where at that time there were frogs to eat.  Of course the snake may have come back.  He or she may have  been living in the well for years.  Lots of other living things came up with the well water often, especially in summer when Grandma  said  “Just close your eyes and  drink, a few bugs won’t hurt you”  She  lived  well into her 90’s so  she may well  have  been correct.  All the  same, it took some  gumption to swallow those
little bugs.
So after Grandma and Grandpa died and the snake was rescued, I  had Cousin Gordon Metcalfe do his divining…miraculous work.  Then I hired  a  well driller with his  truck,  drill and tall gantry.
“Where do  you want me to drill?”
“Right here, where my cousin said there is water.”
“How  did  he know?”
“Water divining!”
“Right…looks  like a good place to drill.”
“How  do you know?”, I asked as it seemed  the well driller was also a believer in water diving.
“No overhanging  trees.”  he said  looking up in the sky.
“NO OVERHANING TREES!”  (made me laugh)
“TREE BRANCHES GET IN THE WAY OF THE GANTRY.”
“What about the water diviner, cousin Gordon?”
“Believe what you will…I do a  lot of wells pinpointed by a water diviner.”
“Do you get water?”
“Yes, around here you can drill anywhere and hit water…does  not matter where.”
“Any water yet?”
“Yep,  down 40 feet…hit water…want me to go deeper?”
“Not necessary.”
So we got lots  of water.  Maybe should have gone deeper tough for the water has  a bit of  sulphur and lots  of lime…hard water as  they say.  No snakes…no bugs.    Last year on the  other farm Andrew hired a  driller  who drilled down  over 100 feet and got beautiful water that spewed  forth like a city hydrant.  Must have hit an  underground  aquifer or a hidden lake…same  thing.  No bugs  No snakes.
Do you believe in water divining?
ARE YOU A BELIEVER?
