Eric and Marjorie..EUROPE ON FIVE DOLLARS A DAY… TRY IT! WE DID!
EUROPE ON FIVE DOLLARS A DAY
Eric, Marore and I decided to tour Europe in the summer of 1965. And do it cheaply. We read Mr. Frommer’s travel book titled EUROPE ON FIVE DOLLARS A DAY.
We believed it.Was that really possible? Only if your living standards are really low. I bet you do not know what that means. The Homeless know. And we lived very near to that kind of existence..Let me tell you about our brief stay in Paris. You will get the idea…Just two incidents will tell much:,

FEAR: “ALAN, WE ARE GOING TO DIE!”
FEAR…FEAR…FEAR…FEAR…FEAR
FEAR changes people. The picture above is Marjorie today in 2018. The picture below was taken in 1994 HIGH above western Newfoundland. We were wedged in an old Cessna 170 about 2,000 feet above the Strait of Belle Isle heading north to L’Anse aux Meadows, one of the most mysterious UNESCO world heritage sites on this planet. Why the fear? Lots of reasons…Lots of reasons.

COLD CHINESE CHECKERS IN WINTER FARM HOUSE
Subject: COLD CHINESE CHECKERS IN WINTER FARM HOUSE Date: Sat, 17 Feb 2018 11:30:30 -0500 From: Alan Skeoch To: Marjorie Skeoch BOARD GAMES! HOW JUVENILE! Well, that may be so, but Marjorie and I play about 20 games a week. So farm I have been a winner of most but Marjorie is catching up. When she does, the game will end. Sore loser. The kitchen of the farm house is about 9 degrees…cold. Has been so ever since we moved the wood stove to the scrap yard and converted to central heating. Who can afford central heating? Grandma and Grandpa Freeman lived in this single room all winter…so cold in the rest of the house that there were always icicles and frost on the furniture. They made do…probably played Chinese checkers as well. The checker board is home made.
