This story will be slow in coming because when JOHN RICKER edited my speech in 1980\u2019s he revealed<\/div>\n
so much about himself\u2026about John Ricker.. that I must follow the evidence to Earl Birney and Frank<\/div>\n
Underhill\u2026two heroes of Ricker\u2019s that I have never known.  Reveals so much.<\/div>\n
The theme is HEROES IN OUR LIVES\u2026think about it.  Our heroes reveal so<\/div>\n
much about who we are, what we believe, our life journey.<\/div>\n

For those of you who do not know John Ricker.  Please do not feel this episode is<\/div>\n
peripheral to your lives.  It is not.  Recollections of heroes \u2026 personal heroes\u2026says<\/div>\n
so much about the essence of each of us.<\/div>\n

Origin of the story comes from my discovery among the dust detritus of my files<\/div>\n
a speech that I made long ago.  John Ricker edited the speech ruthlessly.  The<\/div>\n
story HEROES IN OUR LIVES is the result of his edit.  Who is John Ricker?<\/div>\n
He was a little kid in Great Depression\u2026a high school valedictorian in 1942\u2026a<\/div>\n
rear gunner in a war where many of his friends died\u2026a teacher of history\u2026a receiver<\/div>\n
of the Order of Canada\u2026a friend.  A person who triggers thought.<\/div>\n

So the episode will take more time.  Worth it.  And I must make the story readable<\/div>\n
by people who have never heard of John Ricker.  <\/div>\n
