EPISODE 357    HOW DID THESE MARINE FOSSILS GET TO TOP OF ROCKY MOUNTAINS?<\/p>\n

\u201cOK boys, we have Now driven more than halfway across Canada and it is time<\/div>\n
to find out why.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cAwwww, dad, you sound too much like a school teacher\u2026.this is summer holidays.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cYour are right\u2026.I am going to shut up.   Let\u2019s go mountain climbing.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cSounds great.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cHow about right here\u2026we will just park the truck and climb to the snow line\u2026way up there.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cCan you and mom do that\u2026and the dogs.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cYou bet.\u201d<\/div>\n

And so we climbed through a Talus slope \u2026broken rock \u2026 held in place for now but not forever.  And away above us was the snow line.  Steep enough to lose footing.<\/div>\n
No one anywhere around  and far below was the Jasper highway\u2026more and more distant with each footfall.  The boys tumbled in the snow followed <\/div>\n
by Tara, our coonhound, and Maxie .. a stray we rescued as it was about to be shot.  just the right amount of danger.  <\/div>\n

The slope of the mountain was about 45 degrees.  It was a wonder that we did not trigger<\/div>\n
an avalanche.   <\/div>\n

\u201cDad, looks what we found!\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cWhat?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cPiles and piles of fossils\u2026.rocks are loaded with them.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cYou must be kidding\u2026\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cLook\u2026look\u2026.”<\/div>\n

\u201cWell, I\u2019ll be damned.  You are right\u2026fossils\u2026.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cHow did they get here, dad?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cweird\u2026I thought fossils like these were sea  creattures\u2026things that lived at the bottom <\/div>\n
of the sea.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cHow did they get up here, dad\u2026up on the top of the Rocky mountains?”<\/div>\n

\u201cI have no idea\u2026maybe some tourists\u2026\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t be silly, dad\u2026how did these fossils get up here?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cMust be some explanation.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cDad, how did they get there?\u201d<\/div>\n

\u201cI thought this was our summer holidays, boys.?  Cut the school teacher stuff\u2026\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cDad, we are going to find out.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cWhen you do, be sure and tell me.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cI wonder what these fossils looked like when they were alive?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cFind that out for me too\u2026Meanwhile let\u2019s have some fun.\u201d<\/div>\n

\u201cA snowball fight in the middle of August\u2026\u201d<\/div>\n

(And I winged a nice round snowball at the boys.)<\/div>\n
