Sunday may 23, 2021<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
NEAR empty three lane highway on Sunday morning May 23, 2021.  Totally<\/div>\n
enjoyable  to be zipping along at slightly  above the speed limit.  Relaxed. One<\/div>\n
hand on the wheel but paying close attention to the road.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\u201cAlan, watch out!\u201d<\/div>\n
Suddenly there was  a big white plastic pail spinning down my lane.  From where?<\/div>\n
I had no idea.  Empty road.  Dodged it without panic.  <\/div>\n
\u201cAnother one , Alan\u2026bigger\u2026.you are going to hit it.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cNo time to swerve\u201d<\/div>\n
..no idea who was in the inside lane.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cwhump!\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cWe hit it\u2026.did it pop out behind?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cToo big\u2026.trapped under the truck  \u2026Stop!\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cGive me time\u2026big service station  ahead\u2026empty  lot.\u201d<\/div>\n

So we parked\u2026Marjorie got me a broom to sweep under <\/div>\n
the truck.  Found the big container bent and fixed to<\/div>\n
our front axle.  No damage but it was fixed in place.  Would not<\/div>\n
move.<\/div>\n

By this time I was down on my knees.  Reached an age when the knees<\/div>\n
are no loner acting like rubber bands.  How the hell  was I to <\/div>\n
crawl under the truck?   And then the big nightmare\u2026how was I to<\/div>\n
get up off the pavement?<\/div>\n

I poked for  a while.  Then suddenly there was another person pulling from<\/div>\n
under the front of the truck.  The thick plastic began to give<\/div>\n
way.  My rescuer pulled it out front way.   Bashed, twisted\u2026but<\/div>\n
intact.   Not me\u2026the plastic tub.  That was the way I felt though and the way the plastic tub<\/div>\n
looked.<\/div>\n

How the hell  would I get on my feet.  Knee sore from a football<\/div>\n
injury at Victoria College decades ago.   How to get back on my feet?<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
No problem.  The young lad who noticed our trouble was right beside<\/div>\n
me\u2026offered his arm as did Marjorie.  <\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
Incident over.  Well not quite. The boy had the biggest smile<\/div>\n
I have ever seen.  His name is Shandeep\u2026a sikh \u2026about<\/div>\n
18 to 20 years old.  Bright clothing to match his smile<\/div>\n
and a black turban wound around his head.  Exuded cheerfulness.<\/div>\n

Then he was gone\u2026before I could rudely ask if I could<\/div>\n
take his picture.   Gone.  The service station lot was empty<\/div>\n
again.<\/div>\n

We have had a number of kind acts lately.  Nice.<\/div>\n
