As I mentioned earlier, Marjorie and I did not want to  go to China but Kevin insisted.<\/div>\n
We felt we would be strangers in a strange country with differing political systems<\/div>\n
that were hostile to each other.<\/div>\n

Right from the start we were surprised to discover two things about Beijing.  See<\/div>\n
if you can find them.<\/div>\n

The surprises ?   One you may have guessed.  The other is the last picture in this series.  <\/div>\n

THIS young girl was our guide hired by Kevin.  She was a very funny person\u2026told lots of jokes that were tasteful and very<\/div>\n
funny.   Jokes that were not part of a routine.  She liked us and was super relaxed.  She was very proud of her country\u2026normal.<\/div>\n
But also very interested in our country.<\/div>\n

ANSWER:   1) WE seemed to be liked\u2026big smiles often<\/div>\n
   2) the street signs and other signage was in two languages\u2026Chinese of course but also English.  English!<\/div>\n
Why would the signage be in English?   Why would people on any street in China want to smile at us\u2026warm smiles.?<\/div>\n
