Mysterious disappearance of 700 horses.<\/div>\n

\u201cWhat do we do with the horses now, George?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cAll 700 old them?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cYes\u2026and do it fast\u2026we cannot feed them.!\u201d<\/div>\n

\u201cLet them go\u2026.all 700 at once on streets of Hamberg\u2026(700 horses running wild\u2026were never seen  again.)<\/div>\n
\u201cWhat will happen to them?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cNo one knows\u2026I bet most of them will be eaten. The people are starving and do not have the time<\/div>\n
or the energy to tame the wild ones.   We will never know.  No one keeps records and thousands of<\/div>\n
horses are being shipped to Europe on Liberty ships like ours.  Ships that once carried tanks, troops<\/div>\n
and oil are now carrying horses. heifers, donkeys even chickens.  thousands of them\u2026so many<\/div>\n
have been slaughtered.  Better chickens eaten now than waiting for them to lay eggs.  Starvation.\u201d<\/div>\n
Same with our 700 horse.<\/div>\n
\u201cSurely not that bad.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cWorse than you can possibly imagine, George. Just go for a walk along the rubble strewn streets of Hamberg.<\/div>\n
(Bombers from England had pulverized Hamberg\u2026imagine the sudden arrival of 700 horses from America.)<\/div>\n
\u201cImagine the sudden arrival of 700 horses running free through the rubble\u2026our horses some or<\/div>\n
which must have been captured in the Rocky mountain wilderness\u2026wild horses.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cWild is right.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cOne bit me\u2026hurt\u2026big teeth clamped on my arm.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cDifficult enough for 12 of us to feed the horses as the ship heaved its way across the Atlantic.  So many ships full of animals.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cSome ships can carry 1500 horses.  All we have to do is get them to Germany or Poland alive.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cThen what happens?<\/div>\n
\u201cguess.!\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cHave you ever seen something about them?\u201d<\/div>\n
Not a word.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cTake cows for instance…<\/div>\n
\u201cMilk is needed  desperately,  Dairy herds gone.  Some cows were shipped but not many.  Suppose we had to milk 700 cows every for<\/div>\n
nine days\u2026impossible\u201d<\/div>\n
Cows have to be milked daily.  If not milked cows die an agonizing death\u2026they scream.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cDairy herds that survived were few in number but I don\u2019t really know.  No records\u2026like<\/div>\n
our 700 horses.   We can only guess their fate. Those that could be harnessed were<\/div>\n
were very valuable but the others\u2026eaten I bet.\u201d<\/div>\n
