There have been 5 mass extinctions on our planet earth.   Current theory is that all five have had<\/div>\n
volcanic origins.   If we are now living in the sixth mass extinction (i.e. Climate Change) the evidence<\/div>\n
seems to point to a human rather than volcanic origin.  Perhaps we could do something to impede this<\/div>\n
sixth mass extinction by changing our habits.   We can only rely on ancient oil and coal  deposits<\/div>\n
for energy for a short time longer anyway.   They are finite sauces left to us by a once verdant<\/div>\n
planet.   Perhaps we can get global agreement to change the global temperatures.   <\/div>\n
Electric driven transport is part of the answer.  We will run out of oil eventually for sure.<\/div>\n

REMEMBER KRAKATOA<\/div>\n

Fragments of the island of Krakatau are poking out of the Indonesian ocean between Sumatra and Bali.<\/div>\n

ON August 27, 1883, the Volcano Krakatoa (really spelled Krakatau) exploded blowing 4 cubic miles of <\/div>\n
volcanic debris 24 miles into the sky then wind carried the smoke around the earth<\/div>\n
lowering global temperatures. <\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
A gaping fire filled hole  was filled with tons of sea water triggering a second explosion which was heard<\/div>\n
as far away as Brisbane, Australia.  Worse than that was the 120 foot tsunami whose strength <\/div>\n
was felt as far away as San Franciso.  36,000 people died as a result.  Half of those killed<\/div>\n
drowned in the tidal wave.  Survivors scrambled up mountainous shorelines to escape\u2026<\/div>\n
crawled over each other.<\/div>\n
This remans the most explosive volcanic explosion in recorded history<\/div>\n

Krakatoa explosion was 13,000 time larger than the atom bomb dropped on Hiroshima.<\/div>\n

IF you were living in a sea level village and saw<\/div>\n
 the 120 foot sunami coming there was<\/div>\n
no hope of survival .  Whole islands were stripped bare.   If you heard by a stroke of<\/div>\n
luck the that  a monstrous Tsunami was coming,   You just might have time<\/div>\n
to climb 120 feet assuming there was such a cliff or mountain nearby.<\/div>\n

Currently there are 10 large cities on earth that are just above sea level.  All ten<\/div>\n
would be devastated in such a disaster.  London and Bangkok are two of them. Could such a volcanic disaster happen<\/div>\n
again?  <\/div>\n

On August 27 no one wil be celebrating the explosion of Krakatoa.<\/div>\n
