WE were sitting on the deck, sunlight streaming through the Hydrangeas \u2026little birds<\/div>\n
flicking in and out seeking seed from marjorie\u2019s feeders.   Marjorie, Morgan and I were dragging <\/div>\n
lyrics from our brains like \u201cTake a ribbon from her hair\u201d written by Kristoferson<\/div>\n
and sung by many.  or \u201cLet\u2019s pretend we\u2019re alone\u201d.  Love  songs mostly except for<\/div>\n
one of my favourite folk songs about a train on its last run north from New Orleans.<\/div>\n
That reminded me of riding the last steam train to North Bay and its final trip to Cochrane,<\/div>\n
Northern Ontario.  Riding alone to a job on a road bed stuffed with fossilized limestone skeletons<\/div>\n
of ancient creatures that once dominated  our place on this earth and now are gone.<\/div>\n
