Note:  Brad has experienced some hard times lately\u2026very hard.  I have written this<\/font><\/div>\n
short story to bring a little cheer to his life.  Good times are stored In our memory cells<\/font><\/div>\n
to help in bad times<\/font><\/div>\n

Clarence Bradley Schnellar was a Dumpster Diver\u2026.a treasure hunter.<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
I think dumpster diving is illegal but that did not  stop Brad. <\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
Sometimes the treasures were too big for his car and when that happened he called me. I had a truck.<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cWhat have you found?\u201d<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cNo more talk\u2026get up here!\u201d<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
A whole nest of dumpsters were were dumped at the edge of the old brick factory on Mississauga <\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
Road where a Loblaw mega store now  stands.<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
I got there pronto but no sign of Brad.  Some other divers were present sifting through the dumpsters<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cClarence, where the hell are you? \u201c  His mother named him Clarence.  He did not like the  name  so I called him<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
Clarence just to irritate in friendly way.  \u201cClarence!\u201d  I yelled.  <\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
Several long cardbosrd boxes flew over my head from a dumpster.   Clarence was in so deep he could not be  seen.  <\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cAl, gather up these boxes\u2026.get your truck rear doors open.\u201d  Boxes rained down like air defence misilles. Several<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
dozen,<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s inside?\u201d<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cCarnations\u2026lots of  them\u2026must have just arrived from South America.\u201d<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cThe boxes are cool\u2026direct  from cargo jet liner.\u201d<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cWhy are they dumped?\u201d<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cMaybe drug dealers hid cocaine or heroin in the boxes of carnations..red and white long stemmed carnations.Lots of room.\u201d<\/font><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
I looked around.  Maybe we were being watched by members of a drug cartel with big knives or guns.<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
Who else would throw out   shipment of carnations.<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
‘What will we do with them, Al?\u201d<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
\u201cKevin and Andrew have a paper route.  Carnations delivered with the Toronto Star\/”<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
Note:   our motorcade \u2014 a beaten up Ford cargo van and a  spiffy <\/font><\/span><\/div>\n
Ford station wagon\u2014 were unremarkable\u2026.but were we being<\/font><\/div>\n
tailed by Drug dealers!?<\/font><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/div>\n
No one following.   Imagination gone wacko?<\/font><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/div>\n
How could the carnation bonanza be explained?<\/font><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/div>\n
Brad did not even  try as he distributed carnations to his neighbours in Erindale.<\/font><\/div>\n

<\/font><\/div>\n
Note:  That happened in the 1970\u2019s<\/font><\/div>\n
