;KNEE IS SWELLING UP\u201d  <\/div>\n

1) Arrived at hospital at 4 a.m. Friday <\/div>\n
December 29, 2023.   <\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
2)  Doctor arrived 7.30 a.m.  \u201cInfected, must be opened<\/div>\n
up and cleansed, New dressing\u2026.must act fast.\u201d<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
3 Sinking feeling\u2026infection  My brain reeled,  To reopen my knee?New Years weekend.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
4)  “Not here\u2026go now to hospital that did original surgery “<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
5) Centre of Toronto.  But we did it.   Emergency assessment by another<\/div>\n
doctor. \u201cWe do not think it is infected,\u201d moment of gasping relief did not last long<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
6) \u201cYou have a blood clot,   very dangerous\u2019\u2019\u2019<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
7  what does that mean?  \u201c33 To 66 days under hospital care.  Very delicate,,danger that clot goes to heart,  blocks passage of blood.\u201d<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
8_) \u201cUltatsound  technicians are shared by 3 hospitals,,,hard to book <\/div>\n
Christmas week but we will try?   could be 6 to 8 hour wait time.\u201d ultrasound done<\/div>\n
as technician happened to be in building,..luck<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
9) Emergency ward filling beyond capacity,  Standing  room only.  A lot of desperate people included 6 police escorting a tall man who ws cuffed.   We waited and waited,<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
10   Time was a blurr. until  Saturday night when a doctor said my name<\/div>\n
and led me to a cubicle.  Dark, Feeling of impending doom.<\/div>\n
THEN<\/div>\n
 \u201cMr. Skeoch there\u2019s no sign of infection nor is there <\/div>\n
evidence of  blood clot.  You are free to gol\u201d<\/div>\n

11) \u201cCan I shake your hand doctor?\u201d<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
12)  I wonder if any reader of this sequence will ever understand how<\/div>\n
it feels to have<\/div>\n
the Sword of Damocles hung over our heads for those three days.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
13)  All in all I remain confident that our Emergency Rooms are amazing\u2026<\/div>\n
but we were beat,,,three judgments were made,,,the third was best,<\/div>\n
The swelling of the knee joint went down slightly<\/div>\n
