HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN?<\/div>\n

I Would not describe myself as mighty but the general idea fits.  I had been too proud to admit my knee gives me <\/div>\n
a lot of pain.  So bluff.   Stagger is a better word.. That ploy did not last long.<\/div>\n

\u201cDad, I have renter a scooter for you all week.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cNo goddam way am I going to use a scooter\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cDelivery coming up lane now.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cMakes me look like an old fool.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cTrue\u2026but sometimes you look that way without the scooter.   Get on<\/div>\n
it.  Easy to use.\u201d<\/div>\n

(Too easy \u2026 soon everybody wanted my scooter.   Then they began regarding<\/div>\n
the scooter as a bag truck\u2026.piled all the groceries on, even a bag with two watermelons<\/div>\n
that rolled away and a little kid helped me catch them.  That was a waste of time the watermelons<\/div>\n
were past the due date\u2026spongy.  Should have given them to my little helper who swiped<\/div>\n
a plastic bucket from a stack of them.)<\/div>\n
Strange how a big man on a little scooter was totally ignored by the Morris dancers which<\/div>\n
allowed me to zip in and out as they jumped about.<\/div>\n

Under all these bags is a scooter and two watermelons. They are rolling out of the scooter.  \u201cI will get them” announced a helper with  big plastic pail.<\/div>\n

When I began using a cane due to knee pain, I suddenly became aware of <\/div>\n
so many other lame people with canes.  Some of us nodded  to each other.<\/div>\n
When I graduated to this scooter the same thing happened\u2026.nodding to each other.<\/div>\n
‘Birds of a father flock together\u201d, comes to mind although the analogy is<\/div>\n
not accurate.   Birds fly\u2026we stumble.  I have decided to get my knee fixed\u2026surgery.<\/div>\n
If all goes well does that mean I can no loner nod at those with canes\u2026no longer<\/div>\n
