TERRIBLE LAST WEEK  OF FEBRUARY 2019<\/div>\n

\u201cHELLO,  Andrew,  I am stuck at the farm\u2026truck spinning\u2026snowdrifts\u2026so cold  that the brass  monkey story might be true\u2026can you come?\u201d<\/div>\n

\u201cNot sure I can get away\u201d<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\u201cPut this down  as  an  emergency.\u201d<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\u201cGive me an hour.\u201d<\/div>\n

And  so Andrew came to my  rescue.  This was  not a  day for travel but I had  a movie crew who needed our<\/div>\n
institutional  beds right away\u2026residential school movie being filmed  on Six Nations Reserve\u2026needed  beds<\/div>\n
that looked  as miserable  as possible..  Wind  was blowing white outs\u202670 car and truck  pile up on highway 400<\/div>\n
had  closed  highway both ways\u2026lots of others  accidents.   Just getting to farm I passed  three cars in recent<\/div>\n
accident smashed  all to hell with air bags deployed.  Under the snows ice  lots  of  it.<\/div>\n

I was overjoyed  to reach the farm.  But the joy was short lived.  Truck  spun  off a 3 foot snowdrift into the side of the road  where tires<\/div>\n
just spun on  ice and drifted  snow buried back end in no time.  Even  walking to farmhouse  was tough\u2026hands frozen because<\/div>\n
I took time to take these pictures.   OK, everyone say it loud  and  clear\u2026\u201dI Told  You So!”<\/div>\n

Look at those bed frames.  Beautiful! Chipped paint\u2026so authentic that they could not be replicated by studio art people.   People don\u2019t know<\/div>\n
just how valuable things  in this  condition appear to movie makers.  \u201cAlan,  we cannot get this  kind  of set material anywhere else.\u201d<\/div>\n

That kind of flattery drive me forward.  Today  I  should  have stayed  home.  <\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
But the effort getting the bed frames to the road  could not be cancelled\u2026nor the effort loading the mattresses and bed boards\u2026It took Marjorie and<\/div>\n
I the full day Sunday just getting these  wonderful beds ready for pick  up.  <\/div>\n

I sent a  note to Shane\u2026\u201dDo not come, road  impassable\u201d\u2026but he was too busy  holding on to the steering wheel of his rental  van for the and was<\/div>\n
blowing between 60 and  100 km per hour\u2026white outs.  He pulled  up \u2026 two trucks on an empty road\u2026his  and  mine.  Only his was not trapped in snow.<\/div>\n
He could make  a getaway. <\/div>\n

Picture  above shows just how deep drifts  had become\u2026whole farm was being scoured\u2026Until  Andy arrived  with our tractor and  are-end snowplow.<\/div>\n

Wind so strong that interior of the green house was  converted  into something for a horror movie<\/div>\n

Even the tractor could not pull me out\u2026Andrew had to dig me out first.  Why  did  I not help?  Someone had to<\/div>\n
record the event\u2026<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
Take a close look at the road\u2026under the snowdrifts is a solid  sheet of ice  running down  the Fifth Line.<\/div>\n

\u201cDad, is it necessary for you to get into so  much trouble, so often?\u201d<\/div>\n

\u201cWell,  Andrew I just do this so I can get payback fro  all those  years<\/div>\n
that I changed  your diapers, piled your pablum, gavelled in front of your teachers,  washed  your  clothes, made the meals\u2026made your  bed\u2026\u201d<\/div>\n

\u201cDad, you never did any of  that\u2026mom did it all.\u201d<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\u201cRight, forgot about that.  But I did keep the record with my  camera\u2026and  am still  doing so.\u201d<\/div>\n

\u201cNow turn  the truck  around \u2026 you are free to go.\u201d<\/div>\n

\u201cDid  you see that snowplow\u2026just covered  us with the stuff  you plowed.\u201d<\/div>\n
