(available on internet but under copyright) &nbsp;ChIrstina Olsen was a severely crippled woman that Wyeth&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">noticed dragging herself across the fields of her home farm in Maine. &nbsp; The painting has intrigued art<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">critics and art lovers ever since.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><br class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">For me. &nbsp; Wyeth is synonymous with those first light brown days of intensive sunlight when<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">April arrives.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><br class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><br class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" apple-inline=\"yes\" id=\"46EA0A3A-8F5B-4529-B92A-A069105FD687\" src=\"https:\/\/alanskeoch.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Andrew-Wyeth-Wind-from-the-Sea-1947.jpg\" class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><br class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">Andrew Wyeth, WIND FROM THE SEA, 1947<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><br class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">PONDS ARE OPEN ONCE AGAIN\u2026.THE BIG SNAPPER IS RESTLESS<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><br class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">Today, I tried to catch the first breath of springtime as the ponds opened &nbsp;up.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><br class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">You may wonder about the turtle. &nbsp; It is made of cement and was placed<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">oN that rock years ago. &nbsp; Amazed at how many people think it is real.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><br class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">&nbsp;The turtles eyes are permanently closed while Woody takes a bath in the nude.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><br class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">Real turtles are just waking up down in the mud below. &nbsp;One of them is a big &nbsp;snapping<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">turtle whose anger matches his or her curiosity. &nbsp; How many times have I met the<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">snapper on the trail to the back field\u2026.watching me with eyes protruding from that long neck&#8230; ready to snap off<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">my fingers if I am fool enough to pick him or her up.?\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">&#8220;Crunch<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><br class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" apple-inline=\"yes\" id=\"1AB00A62-430A-40F5-9182-33E7900E0C48\" src=\"https:\/\/alanskeoch.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/55AE1FEF-9893-4B59-8F5C-B20C60851E0A_1_105_c.jpeg\" class=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" apple-inline=\"yes\" id=\"AE7BD244-9598-429A-B140-3600227AA27D\" src=\"https:\/\/alanskeoch.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/4DB19D06-8FB9-4B89-89A4-EA9B28F691BD_1_105_c.jpeg\" class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><br class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\u201cGrandpa, come and sit down. &nbsp;I have bad news for you.\u201d &nbsp;said Jack a few years ago.<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\u201cHow bad, Jack?\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\u201cI found &nbsp;the Big Snapper over by the old barn\u2026he\u2019s dead Grandpa.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\u201cYou know Jack, that Big Snapper has been living in the small pond as longs I can&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">remember. He or she lived there long before you were born. &nbsp;He might have been here&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">when my grandparents lived here&#8230; could have been 100 years old. We will miss him.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\u201cVery sad,Grandpa.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\u201cBut we will get another. \u201c<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\u201cHow?\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">\u201cAround June snappers begin to move about\u2026.cross the Fifth line road\u2026seems we help them cross every year&#8230;.we will catch<\/div>\n<div class=\"\">one and give &nbsp;him or her a new home.\u201d<\/div>\n<div class=\"\"><br class=\"\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"\">And we did. A big one was crossing the road and I Lifted him into a box with the toe of my boot.
