\u201cWhat made you say that ungodly thing Alan?\u2019<\/div>\n

\u201cWe have seen too much change, why can\u2019t our wold stand still?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cIndeed, why cannot our small corner of the planet resist the turmoil of change?<\/div>\n

June 11, 2022 and we were driving to the farm taking a less<\/div>\n
travelled road up the Sixth line, northern corner of Halton  County en route<\/div>\n
top our farm.   Change was coming with the speed of summer lightning.<\/div>\n
Not all bad.  Not at all bad, I suppose\/  Homes, warehouses, factories, <\/div>\n
a gas power plant\u2026.places we all love and need.  I suppose.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
But standing\u2026barely standing\u2026not long  to remain standings was this<\/div>\n
derelict barn.   One large corner ripped open.  A mortal wound.<\/div>\n
No longer does it house the horses we saw there just a couple of <\/div>\n
years ago.   No milking cows of long long ago.  The house still<\/div>\n
stands with broken windows and nailed shut doorways.  The family<\/div>\n
gone.    A farm no more.   <\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
Worth a short drive just to see this.  Better world to come.   We hope<\/div>\n
and pray.  Urban community with jobs and schools and plazas being <\/div>\n
built as we drive.  But something is lost.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
Then a  real reminder happened.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
Reminder of change appeared in front of our truck.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\u201cAlan, snapping turtle on the road.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cStop the truck,I\u2019ll get him or her into the deep grass.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cWatch out, snapping turtles have long necks and sharp mouths.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cJust lift it with the toe of my boot\u2026.over and over\u2026tumbling.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t hurt it.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cBetter my boot than a truck tire.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cSad\u2026the turtle has no place to go\u2026home being bulll dozed\u2026ponds being drained.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cIf the snapper can reach Sixteen Mile Creek, there is hope\u2026the Creek is large<\/div>\n
and cannot be disturbed.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cWhy is it on the road anyway?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cJune is turtle egg laying time I believe.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cNot much hope for baby snapping turtles around here.”<\/div>\n

\u201cCouldn\u2019t we get the poor thing in a box and release it in our ponds?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cGood idea\u2026should have done that.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cNot sure Woody the dog would be happy with the snapping turtle waddling around in<\/div>\n
the back of the truck.<\/div>\n
