There exists a population of feral animals almost cheek to jowl with those Humans call pets.<\/div>\n
One bitterly cold January day SAM arrived at our kitchen window.  He was a stray cat. Perhaps<\/div>\n
at one time he was someone\u2019s pet that nobody wanted.  Outside in a bitter cold snap, Sam<\/div>\n
realized his only hope was to get inside someone\u2019s house. Why he chose place I do not know.<\/div>\n

Marjorie opened the back door and in He bounded.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\u201cWhat will we do with him?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cHe is unlikely to  get adopted at the Humane Society\u2026he is<\/div>\n
too old.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cMaybe he wants to live with us\u2026at least until the weather changes.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cDo you think he will get along with the dogs?\u201d<\/div>\n
(We had two Labradors)<\/div>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s just see how he works out.\u201d<\/div>\n

SAM\u2026ON TOP OF THE REFRIGERATOR<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
Sam settled right in. Stayed with us for a time then died at the farm where<\/div>\n
he is buried in our pet graveyard on the old barn hill where Marjorie has<\/div>\n
planted hyacinths.<\/div>\n
