Not quite dark enough yet\u2026and looking south where lights can be explained\u2026civilization.<\/div>\n

Turning around and looking Northwest, we did once see strange lights above the horizon where no lights should be.<\/div>\n

\u201cI did\u2026but there must be an explanation other than alien spacecraft.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cBut lights out there in the empty vastness of Georgian Bay\u2026in the midnight sky\u2026where<\/div>\n
nothing exists in daylight\u2026how is that explained?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cSome screwball out there with a flashlight.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cMore than one light,remember\u2026and well above the horizon\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cA screwball with friends in helicopters\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cAlan, sometimes you can be irritating.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cOK, Penny, I did see those strange lights.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cAnd other people have seen them\u2026remember the person we interviewed\u2026she<\/div>\n
took the lights for granted as normal at night.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s just go for a midnight walk in on the beach and keep<\/div>\n
our eyes focused northwest.\u201d<\/div>\n

\u201cAre there really strange things seen in the sky?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cPresident Jo Biden promises to release UFO sightings recorded by pilots and <\/div>\n
listed as unexplainable\u2026.doing it right nw, this year.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cMaybe we can invite Biden to visit Concession 12 for coffee ad a stroll along<\/div>\n
the beach.\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cNope\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cWhy not?\u201d<\/div>\n
\u201cAmerican border is crossed only with caution due to Pandemic\u2026the virus\u2026Joe just cannot pop up here.\u201d<\/div>\n

Footnote: UFO sightings can usually be explained as natural phenomena.  One of the<\/div>\n
latest explanations is that drones or sophisticated weather balloons can account for many<\/div>\n
sightings.  Hallucinations also may be factors.  We love to dabble in the unknown<\/div>\n
and then hook explanations to what we do not know or understand.  Best to keep<\/div>\n
our feet on the ground but our minds open.  In our case we have had a lot of<\/div>\n
fun speculating.  Keep it that way.  The Internet is loaded with conspiracy theories<\/div>\n
so be careful.<\/div>\n

    Well, no sightings that night \u2026 but a lot of conversation about the night sky and the universe<\/div>\n
and the limitations of our human species.  Years ago I asked my Grade Ten class to predict what the<\/div>\n
world would be like 50 years from 1999.  The results were fascinating.  One boy, however, wrote<\/div>\n
a comment that was very sobering.  \u201cFifty years from now, sir, we will have explored our solar system<\/div>\n
and beyond using technology unknown today\u2026and we will discover that we are in fact alone.\u201d<\/div>\n
Alone!   Likely so\u2026but then again do not shut the door completely<\/div>\n

Alone!  If  true, then we damn well better take care of our planet.  It is a jewel in the cosmos.<\/div>\n
